Rather than focusing on a virtuosic show of force, much of this music involves cognitively challenging passages.

Adam and Eve - 2020

Although this work is titled Adam and Eve, its story is slightly divergent from the traditional myth. The setting is similar; the primordial natural world, which at any moment has the potential for life threatening danger. Rather than receiving punishment for disobeying orders, in this case, coming into consciousness is the scar that is left behind from a near death experience. The haunting memories and realization of mortality sit for some time. After the trauma begins to clear, a reverent resolve to move forward is reached.

This work was originally written for orchestra, soprano soloist, baritone soloist, and choir. To increase accessibility, it has also been arranged for solely orchestra. In the original work, to depict preconscious human beings, the vocal parts are not written in any language. The lyrics are mostly vowel sounds and are done using the International Phonetic Alphabet. This lack of communicative text translates very well into the orchestra where the different timbres are used to create the same nonverbal emphasis.

Special thanks to Devon Russo for all of the creative input while composing the original work. Thank you to Devon and Eliane Aberdam for helping with editing the original score. Also a final thank you to Kyle Machado for creating the beautiful cover art.

Walk The Ocean - Piano Concerto No. 1 (2018)

Walk The Ocean is a three movement concerto for piano and chamber orchestra. A version of this piece for piano and full orchestra, as well as an arrangement for wind ensemble, will be completed in the future. At this time an arrangement of the first movement’s piano soliloquy is available for piano and wind ensemble.

The central programatic idea of this work is the journey of consciousness in its attempt to navigate the infinite depths of the unconscious. Late Romantic Era as well as early 20th Century harmonies are used in conjunction with modern rhythms to form a rich and driving through-composed piano concerto.
